half-coherent rant about AI in art and French cinema
Watched Alain Resnais' Last Year At Marienbad tonight. I was caught off guard when in one scene it cut from one location to the next without interrupting its characters conversation. No jump in time, as if they were just teleported there and didnt notice it themselves. I thought about how that weird feeling could possibly be adapted into video games and was reminded of that weird AI generated version of Minecraft from a few months ago that would teleport you to a completely newly generated location if you looked directly at the sky or ground. I think things like that have so much potential for new and unique experiences. I wish more people could look at AI in art not as a way to create short cuts for things we can already do, but as a tool for experiences and possibilities that didnt exist before.
