Tomie by Junji Ito could have been a good story because "woman who is seemingly cursed to have men obsess over her to the point of dismembering her" is a cool idea, but the story never considers the idea of treating the villain like a person because like, she cheated on her first boyfriend, I guess
Horror stories that go "what if there was a seductive woman" never really do it for me, because I always end up thinking "okay but what is the woman feeling in all of this". And those stories usually fall flat once you consider the woman might have feelings too.
