I still think it's cool that Alesha (the only canon trans woman in Magic lore) has first of all one of the coolest epithets in Magic (Alesha, Who Smiles At Death), and now got a new card with another cool epithet (Alesha, Who Laughs at Fate). In particular, "Who Laughs at Fate" feels like it is also about being trans which is pretty cool and can't not have been intentional. Especially since it goes away from being about fighting (Fate has much less to do with fighting than Death), which I feel Who Smiles at Death probably has more to do with than with anything else. Who Laughs at Fate feels more like something to do with her life-story than like, facing off a dragon with no fear (and to be fair, her life-story does also allow for some laughing at fate)
I do wonder about what it means though for her story, considering her story was about names specifically. Like, it was called the Truth of Names, so changing her epithet feels like a bit of a subversion of that intention. If her own chosen name is supposed to invoke power and authority, it feels kind of undermining to give her a new one.
Also what is up with her not being Mardu colours even though she's supposed to be the Mardu Khan.
